Hector and Alex were very professional, thorough, extremely careful and yet efficient in getting the job done very quickly. Obviously, they are very skilled in their craft and informed me of any chips or defects to the furniture prior to wrapping and moving it. I was initially concerned about movers taking apart a china cabinet and removing it from the hutch, the base. This was obviously not their first time doing this as it went off without a hitch. The wrapped the dining room table, hutch and interior glass in blankets and plastic wrap. I will definitely use their services and recommend them in the future.

Unfortunately had to update my review. After multiple back and forth calls, I was told movers would not be able to make an appointment they were already 2 hours late for. This was an EXTREME inconvenience, but was told I would be given a discount. They arrived the next morning, and I was told I would no longer be given an hourly rate, but a flat rate! I was initially quoted $120/hr for 3 men, however 5 men showed up. The move took only 3 hours, so the flat rate I was given ended up being closer to $250/hr. I didn’t ask for 5 men, but I had to be out of my rental that day so my back was against the wall. Then, I was told they couldn’t move my elliptical when I have used them last 2x I moved, and they moved the elliptical with no problems. Not sure where the disconnect was this time around, but I was disappointed with my service. I’ve even recommended this moving company to friends and family but will no longer be doing so.

If I could select zero I would. I was introduced to these movers through an apartment locator. I regret my decision to use the apartment locator - UMoveFree - and John D Moving. After viewing some reviews I expressed my concern to the apartment locator. I informed him the umovefree apartment locators advisor if any issues develop, they will know. Prior to the move, I spoke with Mary on several occasions to obtain accurate information. On the day of the move, I did not receive a call prior to arrival. The movers just showed up outside of Mary's informed window of mover's arrival. So I was pushed back to late that evening. Once Fabion and his guy arrived, Fabion of John D Movers states ... oh this will take six hours and threatened to leave if I didn't pay for six hours. It was a scam... SCAM ... At that time of the evening, it was impossible to locate a UHAUL and get moved. The movers did not separate fragile items from nonfragile items. After speaking with Mary and the coordinator with umovefree who promised an additional free hour, I was accused of treating movers like non-human because of my concerns about my items. So please ... please ... don't use John D Moving. I was overcharged by the moving supervisor,.. Fabion ... did not honor the free hour.. I have complained and the company operates without integrity. Please don't use umovefree or John D Moving...

We hired them to move us last weekend. Initially the movers were great however we are missing several boxes containing high dollar appliances (3k+), medications and dishes. I contacted them today to just look for extra boxes and the woman told me it’s my fault for not watching the movers close enough. I asked for insurance information and she said there’s nothing they can do. If you value your items don’t use these movers.

John D Moving would have received 5 stars if it was not for their manager Mary. It stated in the email that I would get a call 30 minutes before they arrived in the 2 hour window, but received a call once they were already at my storage. I called the office and spoke to Mary to ask her am I still going to get charged for not being there, but was 10 minutes away. I told her I just wanted to be sure. She became very hostile with me telling me to calm down and to stop yelling at her. I was shocked because I wasn’t yelling or even upset. She was on speaker phone and everyone in my car could here how rude and disrespectful she was being and was just as shocked as I was. She continued yelling at me and even threatened to cancel my move. Why would she want to do that? Salvador & Alex(5 Stars) the movers were my saviors and they did a fantastic job. I would refer them to others that I know moving since I have a lot of Leasing connections with Apartments throughout Houston, but I don’t feel safe knowing that they may run into being disrespected for no reason with Mary.

I have used John D Moving on multiple occasions over the years. They are reasonably priced and the customer service is always great. They come prepared and work nonstop from the beginning to the end. Recently my movers were Hector & Javier and the done an exceptional job.
